May 20 - 28, 2017
This installation is the result of a project by LandscapeLab Fabra i Coats and the Master's in Landscape Intervention and Heritage Management run by UAB-MUHBA.
Fabricant paisatges ('Manufacturing Landscapes') will be open during Barcelona Museum Night on Saturday 20 May, from 7 pm to 1 am.
The installation transforms the exhibition space at Fabra i Coats: a rope structure hangs as a metaphor for textile production, giving meaning to the space and the factory; the structure combines with images showing old factories that have been recycled for contemporary use.
The projections showing images of factories question the new role of played by factories in the 21st Century, and challenge us to think about what to do with these now-obsolete buildings, so that they can be integrated within the surrounding neighbourhoods and continue to be a part of the city.
The rope structure shows the ever-changing story of Fabra i Coats' future, and highlights the need to trace, sew and tie relations to the Sant Andreu district, through new and future uses of the factory.
